Shane Lowry holed out from the fairway with an eagle-two at the 18th hole at TPC Sawgrass

Shane Lowry enjoyed a record-breaking opening day of The Players Championship, and he made his mark again in the second round with a rare eagle at the 18th.

Lowry became the first player in tournament history to break 30 on the back-nine as he fired a superb seven-under 65 in the opening round, but he could not get anywhere near those height after teeing off at the 10th on Friday.

The Irishman was one over for the day as he headed to the 450-yard 18th, which is regularly ranked as one of the toughest finishing holes on the PGA Tour every season.

Shane Lowry joined us at the Sky Pad to talk through his performance and said he was delighted to end with 68.

But Lowry hammered a perfect 330-yard drive to leave himself with just a smooth wedge for his second, and he was raising his arms triumphantly moments later as his ball found the bottom of the cup for only the sixth eagle on the 18th at TPC Sawgrass.
