Australia's Jason Day sees the funny side after the first tee announcer gets his name wrong.

Jason Day might be ranked the No 1 golfer in the world, but the announcer on the first tee at the BMW Championship still managed to get his name wrong!

Day teed up his ball on the opening hole at Crooked Stick and stepped back to begin his pre-shot routine as the unfortunate announcer went through the formality of introducing the Australian.

But the defending champion's preparation was unexpectedly interrupted by laughter when he heard the words "from Australia, Jordan Day".

At least Day refused to be rattled by the error and joined in with the giggling galleries before composing himself and finding the middle of the fairway with a perfect long-iron.

However, he missed the green with his approach despite having only 82 yards to the pin, and he took three more to get down before also going on to bogey the second.

Day did get both shots back with birdies at the third and fifth, although he was facing a testing up-and-down to save par at the seventh when play was suspended due to a ferocious, approaching thunderstorm.
