Tommy Morrissey hit the ceremonial first tee shot at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open

A young disabled golfer was given a special responsibility at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

Five-year-old Tommy Morrissey, a patient at one of the Shriners Hospitals, was given the chance to hit the ceremonial first tee shot in Las Vegas.

Morrissey, who was born without the portion of his right arm below his elbow, received plenty of applause from the large crowds at the first as he ripped his opening blow down the middle of the fairway.

The youngster's skills didn't go unnoticed by a number of the PGA Tour players in action, with Graeme McDowell, Billy Horschel and James Hahn all struggling to replicate his one-handed swing in a separate contest.

Morrissey also demonstrated his handy putting ability, pushing home putts from four feet and 12 feet to upstage the professionals.
