Peter Malnati atones for a bad day with a hole-in-one at the RBC Heritage

Peter Malnati found the perfect way to lift his spirits towards the end of a poor final round at the RBC Heritage as he made the first hole-in-one of the week at the 17th.
Malnati has started the day with high hopes of a top-10 finish, but he tumbled down the leaderboard early on when he followed a scrappy bogey-six at the second with a triple-bogey seven at the third, where it took him five shots just to reach the green.
The American stumbled to the turn in 40 and then made three further bogeys in four holes on the back nine, and he would have been yearning for the clubhouse by the time he arrived on the tee at the 174-yard 17th hole.
But he choose that time to make his best swing of the day, and his ball just cleared the bunkers and pitched on the front of the green before rolling some 40 feet into the centre of the cup for the second PGA Tour ace of his career.
