Paul McGinley is looking forward to making his European Senior Tour debut as he tees up in the WINSTONgolf Senior Open in Germany this week.
The Ryder Cup legend turned 50 at the end of last year, but his debut among the senior ranks has been delayed by a troublesome back injury.
However, McGinley returned to action in last week's Irish Open at Portstewart, and he is relishing the chance to join the likes of defending champion Andrew Oldcorn and former Ryder Cup team-mate Phillip Price in the field in Vorbeck.
"It was really good to play the Irish Open last week after being injured for a couple of months," said McGinley, who will be part of the Sky Sports commentary team during the 146th Open at Royal Birkdale next week.
"I'm looking forward to this week. I'm a little under-prepared but looking forward to the challenge. I've heard great things about the course here and there will be a bit of wind so it will be tricky. It's unusual playing on a links-style golf course so far inland, so, by all accounts, this is a little different.
"It's nice to play again and have the opportunity to play on this tour," he said. "The standard will be high, I've no doubts about that, and to compete and contend on this Tour, I'm going to have to play very well."
Oldcorn, who lifted his second European Senior Tour title at the event last year, added: "It's always good coming back to defend a championship. I finished second when I defended the PGA Seniors Championship at Slaley Hall, and I played well when I went back to Wentworth after winning the BMW PGA Championship.
"Going to places where you feel comfortable gives you an incentive to have another good week. It's always pretty hard to defend a title, but I'm looking to have a solid week and get some momentum going."
