Silver Medal winner Alfie Plant and amateur champion Harry Ellis and are part of the 10-man Great Britain and Ireland team for next month's Walker Cup.

Craig Watson will captain the side at Los Angeles Country Club from September 9-10, where GB&I will be aiming to defend their trophy after securing a record 16.5-9.5 win in 2015.

Plant was the leading amateur at The Open at Royal Birkdale, following on from his win at the European Amateur Championship, with the 25-year-old one of five Englishmen in the team.

"We have been very impressed with the performances of many of the GB and Ireland players so far this season and it has been a difficult decision to select only 10 players," Watson said on Monday.

"The Americans will be determined not to lose two matches in a row, but we have selected a strong team and I'm sure the players will give it their all to try to retain the trophy."
