PGA Tour rookie Tyler Duncan holds a narrow one-shot lead over Chesson Hadley heading into the final round of the Safeway Open.
Duncan, who graduated from the Web.com Tour last month, mixed five birdies with four bogeys on his way to carding a one-under 71 at the Silverado Resort.
Hadley lies in second spot on 13 under after following his course-record 61 on Friday with a two-under 70, with Bud Cauley and defending champion Brendan Steele two strokes off the pace.
"I made some saves on the back that really held the round together," Duncan said. "I'm just looking forward to the opportunity to be there to play on Sunday and I'm going to come out and give it my best.
Taking a one-stroke advantage into the weekend, Duncan rolled in a 10-footer at the first and cancelled out a blemish at the next with a two-putt gain at the par-five fourth.
Back-to-back bogeys from the seventh were followed by gains at the 11th and 14th, before Duncan bounced back from finding water off the 15th tee and dropping a shot by birdieing the next.
Hadley recovered from two bogeys in his first three holes to birdie two of his last three and stay in contention, as Cauley surged up the leaderboard with a blemish-free 66.
A final-hole bogey saw Steele settle for a level-par 72, with Emiliano Grillo and Graham DeLaet three off the pace and Phil Mickelson in the group tied-seventh on 10 under after posting a four-under 68.
