Seamus Power in contention at Sanderson Farms Championship

Seamus Power continued his challenge for a maiden PGA Tour title with another strong display in a weather-affected second round at the Sanderson Farms Championship.

The Irishman was four under for the day with two holes to play and within two strokes of clubhouse leader Ryan Armour when play was suspended at 5.11pm local time (11.11pm BST).

Power, who played alongside Padraig Harrington in last summer's Olympics, birdied the seventh and holed a 30-footer at the eighth before picking another stroke at the par-five 11th.

A missed putt for par from eight feet at the next was cancelled out by gains at the 13th and 15th, with Power well placed on the 17th fairway when the hooter sounded due to the threat of lightning.

Armour birdied five of his opening seven holes on his way to a four-under 68 and grabbing the advantage at 10 under, with South Africa's Tyrone van Aswegen a stroke off the pace.

Power is joined in a share of third by Vaughn Taylor, who posted a blemish-free 66, with Nicholas Lindheim a further shot back in fifth after birdieing three of his final four holes.

World No 75 William McGirt, the highest-ranked player in the field due to this week's WGC-HSBC Champions in China, is tied for 34th after a one-under 71.

The 30 players yet to complete their second rounds will resume at 7.50am (1.50pm) local time on Saturday, with the third round due to begin at 9.20am.
