The 41-year-old took a five-shot lead in to the final round in Mississippi and never lost his advantage on Sunday, posting a four-under 68 at Country Club of Jackson to maintain his cushion over nearest challenger Chesson Hadley.

Jonathon Randolph claimed third after a final-round 67, with Smylie Kaufman, Brian Stuard and Scott Strohmeyer a further stroke back on 10 under and in a share of fourth.

A missed par-save from six feet at the ninth was cancelled out by a 15-foot gain at the par-five 11th, as Hadley closed the gap by following a birdie at the 12th with an eagle-three at the next.

Armour had birdied the par-five but briefly saw his advantage cut to four with a three-putt bogey at the 16th, only to drain a 45-footer at the next and post a two-putt par at the last to complete his win.
