The European Tour challenged some its star players to break the record for the ‘Fastest hole of golf by a team of four’ ahead of the Turkish Airlines Open.
A French team of Raphaël Jacquelin, Alexander Levy, Grégory Havret and Romain Wattel set the Guinness World Record of 34.87 seconds last year, with three more teams attempting to break the record in Antalya this week.
Held under floodlight on the 503-yard par-five 15th hole at Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort, Team France came back to attempt to break their record against Team England and Team South Africa.
Levy returned as French captain alongside Wattel, Matthieu Pavon and Mike Lorenzo-Vera, but the defending champions were unable to better their time.
South Africa quartet Brandon Stone, Haydn Porteous, Dylan Frittelli and their captain George Coetzee went from tee to hole in an impressive 32.96 seconds, leaving England having to go even faster to break the record.
Ian Poulter, Tyrrell Hatton, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Matthew Southgate also posted a fast time and left television replays being required.
