The American duo, both previous winners of the event with different playing partners, carded a combined eight-under 64 in the better ball format to take the title ahead of the Irish pair.

Beginning the day in a share of the lead, the final two groups exchanged birdies at the par-five first before the Irish pair moved ahead by picking up shots at the fourth and sixth.

Stricker holed a 15-foot birdie at the seventh to match McDowell's gain on the par-four, with the American group birdieing their next two holes to reach the turn all-square.

O'Hair rolled in a six-footer at the 11th and picked up another from a similar distance at the 14th to move him and Stricker ahead, only for McDowell to halve the gap with a birdie at the par-four 15th.

A 10-foot eagle at the 17th from O'Hair extended their cushion to three heading to the last, where a final-hole birdie from McDowell couldn't prevent the Americans from seeing out victory.
