Maja Stark and Linn Grant ended Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz’s unbeaten partnership to help Team Europe move into a 7-5 lead over Team USA after the Saturday foursomes, despite Charley Hull and Lottie Woad suffering a record-equalling defeat.
Nothing could separate the two teams on the opening day at Bernardus Golf, where both sessions were tied for just the second time in Solheim Cup history, but the hosts grabbed the advantage by claiming three of the four points on offer on Saturday morning.
Korda and Corpuz had a 100-per-cent career record in foursomes but saw their five-match winning streak together ended by Stark and Grant, who led out Europe and claimed the first point of the day with an impressive 3&2 win.

Anna Nordqvist's star partnership of Hull and Woad failed to deliver again, as Alison Lee claimed her third win in as many sessions and partnered Lauren Coughlin to a 6&5 victory - the joint-largest winning margin in Solheim Cup foursomes.
Rookie duo Mimi Rhodes and Nastasia Nadaud continued their perfect start by despatching Andrea Lee and Austom Kim 4&3, while Leona Maguire and Esther Henseleit snatched a final-hole win to ensure Team Europe won the session.
How Europe edged ahead after foursomes
Nordqvist's decision to send out her all-Swedish pairing was immediately validated when they won the first and matched the American birdie at the next, then responded to losing the third to a birdie by winning the next and never relinquishing control.
They won the seventh with a birdie and moved further ahead when Stark brilliantly chipped in for eagle from just off the eighth green, with a par at the ninth enough to claim a third straight hole and reach the turn four ahead.
Korda and Corpuz threatened a famous comeback when they won back-to-back holes from the 10th to halve the deficit, only for Stark to hole an eight-foot birdie at the 16th to end the Americans' perfect foursomes record.
"It's the best feeling ever," Stark said about the win. "It felt like we put up some really decent golf both today and yesterday - it's hard to beat when you're not making any bogeys."
Hull and Woad were kept together despite only returning a half-point from two matches on Friday, with the English duo falling behind when Lee and Coughlin won four holes in a row from the fourth.
Woad made a close-range birdie to match their opponents at the eighth before Lee and Coughlin started their back nine with back-to-back birdies, the Americans closing out an emphatic win with a par on the 13th.
"I feel like we both just hit it so solid," said Lee, who claimed a third point of the week. Today, I feel like all I had to do was just sit back and watch the Lauren [Coughlin] show. She hit some incredible shots into the green and made some incredible putts."
Rhodes and Nadaud became the first rookie duo to win two matches together at one Solheim Cup, with the debutant duo never behind on their way to the largest margin of victory by a debutant pairing in a foursomes match.
"I have to say we didn't really expect to play this morning," Nadaud admitted. "It was a great surprise yesterday. We played very sensible - had loads of fairways and greens and gave ourselves opportunities."
A topsy-turvy other match saw Kupcho and Zhang move two up after six holes, with Henseleit missing three putts from inside five feet but back ahead when her and Maguire won three of the first four holes of the back nine.
Team USA won successive holes from the 14th, but Maguire levelled at the 16th before Europe snatched victory when Zhang hit the lip of the bunker with her approach into the last and made a closing bogey.
"I think we knew we weren't doing a whole lot wrong," Maguire said. "We got off to a really nice start just like we did yesterday and they came back at us with a birdie on three. We just had to stay patient and keep giving ourselves chances. Ten, 11, 12 were key turning holes for that."
