Two-time major winner ready to call it quits

John Daly has claimed he is ready to retire from professional golf after missing the halfway cut at the Farmers Insurance Open. The two-time major winner made the comment to a camera crew from the Golf Channel who are following the 43-year-old for a reality show. Playing on a sponsor's exemption at this week's event in San Diego, Daly's frustrations got the better of him after a second round of 71 ensured he would not being staying on for the weekend at Torrey Pines following his disastrous opening 79 on Thursday. "I'm done," he told the camera crew. Asked to explain what he meant by "done", the controversial American said: "With golf. "I can't compete. I can't play like I use too. I can't keep taking spots from guys out here playing this bad. It's not worth it. "I'm tired of embarrassing myself in front of (my fans). I can't do it any more." Daly also missed the cut at his first event of the year, the Sony Open in Hawaii, two weeks ago as he bids to rebuild his career, having served a suspension from the PGA Tour for the first half of 2009.
