"It's a good move for my career," insists Rory

Rory McIlroy insisted a move back to America would be the best thing for his career after explaining his decision to Sky Sports. The US Open winner says he is '95 percent' certain to take up his PGA Tour card again next season, after admitting most of his favourite events are those played in the United States. Speaking at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in Ohio, McIlroy said that he was working on the logistics of moving to America, buying a house over there and re-joining the PGA Tour. Winning the US Open at Congressional only served to heighten McIlroy's love of playing in the States, and he seems determined to make the move next season. "It's something I thought about, especially after winning at Congressional," McIlroy told Sky Sports. "I really enjoy it over here and I'd like to give it another go, so I'm seriously considering it... 95 percent of me wants to come over here.

Logistics

"It's just making sure everything is in place by next year to make sure that coming over here and playing is as easy as possible logistically. I'll get a place here and then maybe spend three or four months at the start of the year here. "I think it's a good move for my career, I feel like I play my best golf over here and I'm comfortable here. " McIlroy remains committed to the European Tour but feels the biggest tournaments are all staged in America. "Obviously I'm never going to leave Europe, I'm always going to play in Europe as much as I can, but I feel like I had a good chance to start winning some big tournaments all over the world and a lot of the big tournaments are over here (in America). Although he feels he will have a better quality of life living in America, McIlroy insists that the move will only be made to further his career. "I think it all comes into it, but the main reason is that I think it will be best for my career and my golf," he added. "There might be other things that have led to this decision but ultimately it's about the golf. "I'll start off in the Middle East like I always do, I'll come back and play the French Open which I usually play, although I wasn't able to this year, I'll play in Sweden next year definitely. "I'll still play the events I want to play over there and I'll fulfil my schedule and make sure I play plenty of times on both sides of the pond."
