Ian Poulter always believed he could shoot a low number in his final round after a 65 proved enough to give him victory at the WGC HSBC Champions in China.

Cup moment

Poulter has now won two WGC events in his career, a feat no other Englishman has achieved. However, he insisted his latest triumph still didn't live up to the the thrill of helping Europe to glory in this year's Ryder Cup in Chicago. "It still doesn't give you the kind of same buzz you get playing the Ryder Cup. There's just not quite as much adrenaline in the body," he admitted. "I definitely think it is a part continuation of the Ryder Cup and I'm obviously riding that wave as much as I possibly can." Rory McIlroy, who opted not to play in the tournament this week, was quick to congratulate his European team-mate. "Ballsy up and down at the last," the current world number one wrote on Twitter. "Wouldn't expect anything less!"
