Trevor Fisher Jnr completed a magnificent weekend as he cruised to a five-shot victory on the final day of the Africa Open at East London.

Fisher claimed his maiden European Tour title as well as his ninth Sunshine Tour win in convincing style, following up Saturday's 63 with an eight-under 64 to leave the field trailing in his wake on 24-under par.

Final leaderboard

Par 72:
-24 T Fisher Jnr (Rsa) 64
-19 M Ford (Eng) 67
-16 J Campillo (Esp) 66
-16 E de la Riva (Esp) 66
-16 M O Madsen (Den) 66
-14 J Parry (Eng) 68
-14 J Van Zyl (Esp) 70
-13 M Kieffer (Ger) 67
-13 J Quesne (Fra) 67
-12 M Lampert (Ger) 67

Matt Ford kept pace with the South African and was just one behind until a two-shot swing at the ninth, and Fisher increased his advantage to four at the 10th before he birdied three of the last four holes for the second day running.

Ford matched Fisher's birdies at the first and third, and the overnight leader then dropped only his third shot of the tournament at the fifth before both birdied the sixth and seventh.

But the ninth hole was to prove pivotal as Fisher birdied to turn in 33, while Ford stumbled to a bogey-five before watching his playing partner roll in his 18th birdie putt of the week at the next.

Ford gave himself a glimmer of hope with a birdie at the 14th, but Fisher answered with his fourth straight four at the long 15th and added another birdie at 16 to effectively put the result beyond any doubt.

After both parred the 17th, Fisher secured victory with a 35-foot birdie putt at the last and Ford followed him in to cap a valiant five-under 67 which earned him outright second and his best finish in a European Tour event.

Spanish pair Eduardo de la Riva and Jorge Campillo shared third place on 16-under along with Morten Orum Madsen after all three fired 66s, while England's John Parry signed off with a 68 to claim a top-10 finish with Jaco van Zyl.

Campillo piled the pressure on the leaders with a remarkable start to his round, rolling in an eagle putt at the first before carding four birdies in five holes to get to 16-under.

But his challenge faltered with bogeys at the ninth and 11th, although he got the two shots back at 12 and 14, while De la Riva kept a bogey off his card as he made three birdies on each nine.

A bogey at the ninth was the only blemish for Madsen, who made great strides up the leaderboard with three straight birdies from the sixth, and Parry knocked in his fifth birdie putt of the day at the last to join Van Zyl on 14-under par.
