Masters champion Danny Willett (93rd) was eliminated from the play-offs after not featuring in Boston, while Ryder Cup hopeful Jim Furyk (86th) and American veteran Steve Stricker (76th) didn't do enough to progress to the next event.

At the other end of the standings, McIlroy's two-shot victory parachuted the Northern Irishman 34 places in the standings to fourth spot and within 84 points of US Open champion Dustin Johnson.
