Accenture will no longer sponsor Tiger Woods following the revelations about the golfer's private life, the company has announced. The 33-year-old has been the subject of a series of allegations concerning his private life over the last two weeks. Woods announced on Friday that he is to take an "indefinite break" from golf after admitting infidelity. A statement on Accenture's website read: "For the past six years, Accenture and Tiger Woods have had a very successful sponsorship arrangement and his achievements on the golf course have been a powerful metaphor for business success in Accenture's advertising. "However, given the circumstances of the last two weeks, after careful consideration and analysis, the company has determined that he is no longer the right representative for its advertising."

Gillette

Accenture's announcement follows Gillette's announcement that Woods was no longer appearing in their advertising. Gillette initially said it would be "limiting his role" in marketing to "support his desire for privacy", but spokesman Damon Jones later appeared to distance the company even further. Jones told the BBC: "Who knows what will happen in the future? We're not speculating. Our actions are clear. We have a brand ambassador who we have said is no longer going to appear in our advertising. "That is a pretty clear statement about where we are going. Actions speak louder than words." American telecommunications firm AT&T has said it is "presently evaluating our ongoing relationship" with Woods, but sportsgoods manufacturer Nike has offered him their "full support" and watch maker Tag Heuer have also pledged to stand by the world number one. Spokeswoman Mariam Sylla insisted their relationaship would continue because Woods remains the best golfer on the planet, adding that the company does not care about his private life. Sylla said on Monday that "he's the best in his domain," while stating that Tag Heuer has great respect for his performance in the sport.
