Francesco Molinari hit a hole-in-one at the DP World Championship at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai

There had already been a record number of holes-in-one on the European Tour this season, but Francesco Molinari added to the tally in style during the final round of the DP World Tour Championship.

The Italian was level par for the day when he made his way to the 186-yard par-three sixth, only to surge up the leaderboard thanks to a memorable tee shot.

After seeing his ball safely clear the water and land around ten feet short of the pin, his effort stayed on-line and rolled in to the heart of the cup to become the European Tour's 46th hole-in-one of the season.

Molinari would go on to birdie four of his final six holes to close with a four-under 68, ending the week in a six-way tie for fourth.
