Daniel Im carded a bogey-free 65 to claim a one-shot lead after the opening round of the Indian Open at the Delhi Golf Club.
The American, who was making his debut on the course, bagged seven birdies to set a morning target which was not matched.
"This is my first time so I haven't seen the bad stuff yet," said the 30-year-old. "It went well for me this morning. I chipped it in on my first hole and I made birdie on my second. I kept going and told myself to keep it on the fairway.
"I've heard about this golf course so many times prior to this trip. I came in with a bit of respect. I showed some respect and got some respect back."
Thailand's Prom Meesawat also carded seven birdies but opened with a bogey to finish a shot adrift at six-under along with Spanish duo Jorge Campillo and Nacho livra.
India's SSP Chawrasia, a four-time runner-up at the event - including the past two years - survived a double-bogey to shoot 67 to stand alongside compatriot Sanjay Kumar, South Korea's Jeunghun Wang, Terry Pilkadaris of Australia and Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin, who had a hole-in-one at the fifth.
England's Tommy Fleetwood was the best-placed Briton, his 68 - highlighted with an eagle on 18 - putting him in a group sharing 10th place along with Anirban Lahiri, the defending champion from India, who finished with four straight birdies.
Ireland's three-time major winner Padraig Harrington was among a large group six shots off the pace after a 71.
