Chris Hanson will take a one-shot lead in to the final round of the Trophee Hassan II after making the most of tough scoring conditions in Morocco.
On a day where only 19 players were able to break par, Hanson posted a joint-low round-of-the-day 67 to set the clubhouse target at six under and go one clear of nearest challengers Clement Berardo and David Dixon.
Resuming in the group five strokes adrift of surprise midway leader Francesco Laporta, Hanson posted a birdie-three at the first and picked up another shot at the seventh to reach the turn in 33.
Hanson followed a birdie at the 10th with an eagle-three at the 12th, seeing his approach hit the pin and drop in, parachuting above temporary pacesetter Christiaan Bezuidenhou.
After a failing to get up-and-down from the bunker at 13 to drop alongside Dixon on five under, Hanson birdied the next to reclaim the outright advantage before bouncing back from a blemish at the 17th to birdie the last.
"I can't say I was confident of shooting that kind of score today, but I've been playing pretty well lately and today it all came together nicely," Hanson said.
"I got rewarded for playing some good golf today, which doesn't always happen, so it's nice when it does.
"It's a very demanding golf course and there are a lot of tee shots where if you are not quite on it and lose a bit of concentration you are going to rack up some big numbers.
"It feels like it's been a long time coming. I've been around a long time now and not quite made it to the main tour.
"To come through the q-school [at the 10th attempt] and get the last card was nice and to get into contention this week is a big confidence boost. Hopefully I can press on and do some nice things tomorrow."
Dixon mixed seven birdies with two bogeys to match Hanson's 67, with Joshua White, under the guidance of Seve Ballesteros' former caddie Pedro Ramseye, a further stroke back with a two-under 70.
Laporta, taking a one-shot lead in to the weekend, slipped in to a three-way tie for the lead when he found the bunker and bogeyed the first, before continuing his slide down the leaderboard with three further blemishes along the front nine.
A four-over 76 leaves the Italian in the group four off the pace included Jason Scrivener, who carded a 75, and England's Robert Rock.
