Thomas Pieters hits 407-yard drive during Alfred Dunhill Links C'ship

Thomas Pieters proved his big-hitting credentials with a monster tee shot during the opening round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The Belgian was Europe's star performer at Hazeltine last week, winning four of his five matches on his maiden Ryder Cup appearance, and continued to impress during the opening round in Scotland.
Pieters, playing in the group alongside Branden Grace, was already under par for the day at Carnoustie when he made his way to the 407-yard par-four seventh hole.
With the group ahead watching on further down the hole, Pieters' monster drive split the tight fairway and continued to race towards the large green.
The ball slowed as it reached the green, leaving a comfortable long-range two-putt for another easy birdie on his way to an opening-round 70.
