Andy Sullivan celebrates a hole-out eagle during the second round of the WGC-Mexico Championship.

Andy Sullivan produced a moment of magic to surge up the leaderboard during the second round of the WGC-Mexico Championship.

The Englishman has dropped outside of the world's top 50 after a slow start to the year on the Desert Swing, but bounced back in some style during the opening two rounds in Mexico.

Sitting three strokes off the pace following a level-par 71 on Thursday, Sullivan made a strong start on day two with a birdie-three at the first and a 12-foot par save at the next.

Sullivan picked up another shot at the sixth to close the gap on the leaders, before saving the highlight of his round for the par-four ninth.

After finding the right of the fairway off the tee, Sullivan saw his approach land 20 feet past the flag but catch the slope on the green and roll perfectly in to the cup for an eagle.
