The last time a Puerto Rican led a PGA Tour event was the 1979 Tallahassee Open, when Chi Chi Rodriguez was tied for the 54-hole lead before winning his eighth and final title.

McNeill looked set to claim a share of the lead after six birdies in the space of seven holes, but dropped his only shot of the day on the last after failing to get up and down from a greenside bunker.

Cejka, who won his first PGA Tour title on his 287th appearance 12 months ago, carded seven birdies and one bogey to join Aaron Baddeley, Frank Lickliter and Will Mackenzie on six under par.

"Even just coming in the other day you have great memories, there is something in the air," Cejka said. "I feel good and comfortable, I had good rounds here in the past. I like the golf course and I am playing well."
