Chris Kirk and Luke List share the lead heading into the final round of the Sanderson Farms Championship in Mississippi.
Big-hitting List and Kirk shot seven-under rounds of 65 on Saturday to move up 13 spots and reached 14 under at the 54-hole stage, enough for a one-shot lead.
List's only previous win came on the Nationwide Tour (now the Web.com Tour) back in 2012 but he put himself in position for a maiden PGA Tour win with a seven-birdie effort.
He had four birdies on his front-nine, closing it out by picking up strokes at the eighth and ninth, and made three more on the way home.
"I was fortunate today to avoid the rough for the most part," he said. "Certain holes I could take advantage of my length and certain holes had to throttle back but swinging really nicely today.
"For me it's just being really patient. The more chill I can be tomorrow the better off I'll play. Of course I'll be nervous."
Kirk is a four-time winner on the main tour, his most recent success coming at the 2015 Colonial, and he battled back from a dropped shot at the fifth to post three successive birdies from the seventh.
Like List, Kirk had three more birdies on the back-nine to post a 65 but both joint-leaders will have plenty of competition in Sunday's final round.
Three players are on 13 under - former US Open champion Lucas Glover, Cody Gribble and Canada's Graham DeLaet - and another four are just two strokes off the pace.
Among those is halfway leader Grayson Murray, who was alongside List and Kirk on 14 under until he made a double bogey at the 15th. They were his only dropped shots of the day but he could manage only two birdies in a 72.
Ireland's Seamus Power and Englishman Greg Owen are also in the group on 12 under after matching rounds of 70, with Australia's Cameron Smith completing that quartet after a 67.
