Rickie Fowler was the early pace-setter as he shot a bogey-free round of 65 to equal the US Open record for a lowest first-round score in relation to par (-7), with Koepka two shots further back and tied for fourth.

Koepka moved into the joint lead at the end of day two, alongside Paul Casey, Brian Harman and Tommy Fleetwood, but Harman's impressive third round saw him lead outright heading into the final day. Justin Thomas also moved into contention with a record-equalling nine-under 63.
