Danny Willett reflected on a "crazy" week as he became the first Englishman since Nick Faldo to win the Masters.
Willett becomes England's second Masters champion and first in 20 years after a fabulous final round coupled with an amazing collapse from defending champion Jordan Spieth.
Starting the day at level par and three shots adrift of Spieth, Willett produced a sparkling 67 to equal the best round of the day and storm through the field without dropping a shot, while the American produced a mixture of the sublime and ridiculous in his one-over par round of 73.
Willett, 28, from Sheffield only arrived at Augusta on Tuesday after the birth of his first child, but emerged victorious after a dramatic final day in Georgia, claiming the win by three strokes from Lee Westwood and Spieth.
"You can't really describe the emotions and the feelings, we all go out there to try and play good golf and try to win a tournament and today was my day," Willett said in the Butler Cabin before being fitted with his Green Jacket by last year's winner, Spieth.
"It was tough, every time we seemed to make ground Jordan kept pulling ahead and we were just trying to dig in and make birdie and birdie.
"I though we needed to get to six or seven [under par] and I looked at the leaderboard and he was already at minus seven.
"It was a very surreal day when you look back at the ebbs and flows and we were fortunate that the shots we hit were correct at the time and we holed a few putts when we needed to.
"My wife was born, in 10 minutes time, 28 years ago; my son was due today and he came early to let me come and play so you talk about fate and everything else that goes with it.
"It has been a crazy, crazy week."
