Several players face early start on Saturday

First round leaders Bob Estes and Tommy Armour maintained their grip on the Ginn sur Mer Classic in Florida after another rain-hit day. Both completed their second rounds in 68 to reach 14 under par, one ahead of Sweden's Daniel Chopra, who added a 66 to an earlier 67. He in turn is three shots ahead of Sean O'Hair, Steve Lowery and Michael Sim as the dash to secure playing rights for 2008 continues. With just one more event to play, Estes and Armour sit just inside the top 125 on the money list who retain full privileges for next season. However, for Lowery (148th) and Sim (177) only victory will do this week to give them shout, while several players further down the leaderboard also need decent cheques. A total of 64 players had to return at 8am local time to finish their second rounds and of them it was Japan's Daisuke Maruyama and American Ted Purdy who made the most significant moves. Maruyama birdied his last two holes to return a seven-under-par 66, moving into a tie for seventh place on nine-under, while Purdy came home with a 68 to finish on the same mark. The cut eventually fell at two-under (144) with Swede Carl Pettersson and Americans Shaun Micheel and Larry Mize amongst the biggest names to miss out.
