Jordan Spieth will head into the final round of the Singapore Open five shots off the lead after producing an uncharacteristically inconsistent display with the putter at the Sentosa Golf Club.

The world No 1, who is one of five players in fifth place, was forced to resume his third round shortly after sunrise on Sunday, due to rain delays on the two previous days.

The 22-year-old, who was made to mark his ball on the 17th overnight due to the weather, missed his par putt but recovered immediately to birdie the par-five 18th.

That shot helped the American finish the round on six under par, five shots behind South Korean leader Song Young-han.

Song, who is currently ranked 204th in the world, ended his round strongly, birdieing three of the final five holes to finish on 11 under par.

Japan's Shintaro Kobayashi trails Song by two shots in second place, while China's Liang Wen-chong sits one shot further back in third.

Despite his mixed fortunes on Saturday, Spieth vowed to improve his consistency in the final round's play.

"I have got to hit as many greens in regulation as possible," said the two-time major championship winner.

"I just have not done that. I have been out of too many holes this week to get anything going.

"All it takes is a little bit of a spark, a little confidence with my ball striking to make sure I have got that distance control down, and the putting will come."
