World number one has never sought advice from Golden Bear

Jack Nicklaus has revealed that Tiger Woods has never once asked him for advice about his game. World number one Woods is aiming to eclipse Nicklaus' record haul of 18 major championships. At present the 33-year-old stands on 14 and missed a great chance to add to his haul at the recent USPGA Championship when he was surprisingly beaten by Korean YE Yang. However, despite the wealth of knowledge at his disposal, Woods has never sought counsel from Nicklaus, instead preferring to look to himself in the quest to become the sport's most successful golfer. "Tiger has never asked me one question about golf," Nicklaus explained. "He's a good kid, but he pretty much does things his own way. "That's okay because I pretty much did my own thing." However, Woods did take heed when Nicklaus offered his opinion on the problems he was experiencing with his left knee - on which he underwent reconstructive surgery after last year's US Open. On his return to action following that surgery, Woods was still feeling discomfort from the injury and Nicklaus gave his take on the possible cause. "Tiger's problem is not his leg but what causes (the stress on) his leg," Nicklaus added. "He gets off his right hip really quickly and that places so much stress on his knee. "I talked to Tiger about it and recommended a physiotherapist - so I got that one off my chest! "I played in the Memorial Tournament shoot-out this year and he was swinging beautifully. "He said to me 'I didn't call your guy but I took your advice and knew what I had to do'."
