Steve Stricker has jumped to number two in the world rankings after his win at the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Ishikawa cracks the top 50 for first time
Steve Stricker has jumped to number two in the world rankings after his win at the Deutsche Bank Championship on Monday. The 42-year-old American clinched victory in Boston with a birdie-birdie finish to close one shot clear of Jason Dufner and Scott Verplank. The triumph also moved him above Tiger Woods to the top of the FedEx Cup play-off standings with just two events of the series left. Having also climbed above Phil Mickelson and Paul Casey in the world list, he now finds himself at his highest-ever career ranking. Swede Alexander Noren has surged into the world's top 100 after his victory at the European Masters in Switzerland over the weekend. Noren got the better of Bradley Dredge to chalk up his first European Tour win and climbs 59 places to 71 as a consequence. Meanwhile, the fifth Japan Tour success for 17-year-old sensation Ryo Ishikawa lifts the Japanese youngster into the world top 50 for the first time at 47th.
