The British Father and Son Championship offers all golfers the chance to see yourself on Sky

You've seen your heroes playing golf on Sky Sports, but ever fancied seeing yourself on the screen? Better than that, ever wanted to see yourself competing on the television alongside your dad (or your son)? The opportunity is there in the shape of the British Father and Son Championship which takes place later this summer, with the winners progressing to the European finals which appear on Sky screens in November. It's a competitive tournament but full of camaraderie too, helped by a schedule that mixes golf and fun. Three days of action begins with a fun warm-up event on Friday before the real action kicks in on the Saturday and Sunday. After a gala dinner on the Saturday night, the final action takes place with the leaders going out last, in European Tour fashion, to conclude the drama of an exciting week. Last year's winner Phil and Ben Taylor are repeat contenders who love the combination of fun and serious golf. "It is rare to get the opportunity to play in a tournament with my son," said Phil, "so this really is very special. It's a fantastic event that encourages fathers and sons from all walks of life. Pro or amateur, scratch or 20-handicapper, anyone can take part and have fun." Handicap champions Jason and Kane Jones had the week of their golfing lives to set up an even bigger one. "It's been an emotional few days," said Jason. "Things have been tough for me at work and now we will have the trip of a lifetime competing in Spain in the European Father and Son Championship." The 2012 event takes place 3-5 August at Belton Woods in Lincolnshire. Entry starts at £249 and includes three rounds of golf, the par-three challenge, a gala dinner, breakfast, two nights at the four star Belton Woods Hotel and the opportunity of that golden ticket to play in front of the cameras.
