Jamie Donaldson and Justin Rose shared the lead after an opening round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship that saw both Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods have their issues.
Darren Clarke, who withdrew from the race for the job at Gleneagles next year to try to play in the event again, came home in 43 shots for a 79.
