Camilo Villegas has bunker trouble at the US Open taking four shots to get onto the green.

Camilo Villegas had made the perfect start to his US Open challenge before undoing his fine early work with a horror show in the sand on the 12th at Chambers Bay.

The Colombian opened with birdies at 10 and 11 and then tried to drive the green at the 317-yard par four, but his errant tee-shot landed in the dense rough surrounding one of the bunkers and he was forced to take a drop for an unplayable lie.

Unfortunately for Villegas, it took him four attempts to escape the trap and the resulting triple-bogey seven was a hammer blow following such a bright start.
