Mi Hyang Lee continues fine start at Evian Championship

Mi Hyang Lee continued her fine start to the Evian Championship with a second round 67 for the outright lead of the final major of the year.

The Korean ended the day nine-under par with the only blemish on her card coming at the par-four 18th in a round that included five birdies - four of which coming from the front nine.

Lee holds a four-shot lead over Morgan Pressel, who fired a round-of-the-day 65 as she continues to build momentum ahead of the Solheim Cup later this month.

The 27-year-old American said: "I didn't let that (start) bother me, and just kept trying to plug along and make more birdies, and was able to do so. This is my 10th year but only the third year on this new golf course, but it's still similar."

Pressel's Solheim Cup team-mate, and overnight co-leader Lexi Thompson, failed to capitalise on her promising start to the tournament, carding a disappointing 72 to fall five shots off the lead.

It was another underwhelming day for Europe's representatives at this year's Solheim Cup with Charley Hull's name the highest registered on the leaderboard as a second consecutive 70 leaves her seven strokes adrift of Lee.

Lydia Ko struck a second-round 69 to leave herself well positioned on four under, but the world No 2 will rue a poor start and finish to her round with bogeys at two and 18.

Nicole Broch Larsen and Shanshan Feng cemented their place towards the top of the leaderboard with scores of 67 and 68 respectively, but World No 1 Inbee Park endured another inconsistent day with a mixture of birdies and bogeys steering her to one under for the tournament, with a careless double-bogey at the par-four 11th preventing a stronger finish for the 27-year-old.

Amy Yang recovered brilliantly from a slow start with five gains from her final seven holes taking her a 66 and share of fifth place.

The 26-year-old will be hoping to breach the top-10 come Sunday, a feat she has already achieved in the four other majors.
