Open Zone countdown: Padraig Harrington's 'Happy Gilmore'
Last Updated: 19/07/17 6:59pm
We complete our top 10 moments from last year's Open Zone as we look back at Padraig Harrington doing a 'Happy Gilmore' at Royal Troon.
The two-time Open champion chatted to Nick Dougherty about the use of a head cover when practising his swing at the driving range, before showing the shot made famous in the 1996 golf movie starring Adam Sandler - where he runs up to the ball on the tee before striking it a considerable distance.
However, there was a method to Harrington's use of the shot, as he said: "I physically do a better golf swing when I do a Happy Gilmore. I don't lift in any shape in the back swing and plant much better, and once I do that I can get my arms down underneath my shoulders a lot better.
"When you're standing still it tends to be more rotational when I'm trying to get more down on it."
