Dvinsky to break record

Dvinsky is set to become Britain's busiest racehorse of the modern era with his 218th competitive start at Wolverhampton on Friday evening.

Last Updated: 20/09/12 10:37am

Dvinsky will become Britain's busiest racehorse of the modern era when he makes his 218th competitive start at Wolverhampton on Friday night.

The 11-year-old joined Sharp Hat, who retired in 2007, when he ran for the 217th time at Kempton a little over a week ago.

He finished fourth in the specially named Betdaq Dvinsky Record-Equalling 217th Run Handicap.

Now in his 10th season, the Pau Howling-trained gelding will aim to give weight and a beating to 11 rivals in division two of the 32Red.com Handicap at Dunstall Park, with jockey Tom McLaughlin taking the ride for the 27th time.

It will be Dvinsky's 34th Wolverhampton appearance, a course where he has won twice and been placed on a further nine occasions.

Howling said: "He equalled the record last week and now he's going to break it.

"I've had help to set up a Twitter account in his name.

"It's a shame there are no races for him at Kempton but we've found this handicap at Wolverhampton and he has won there before.

"The horse is ready to run again. He's as happy as Larry."
