Cam Fowler netted an overtime winner as Anaheim beat Vancouver 2-1 in a battle between the top two sides in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference.

With two minutes and 32 seconds of overtime played, Fowler cashed in on a rebound to net his fifth goal of the season.

The victory prevented Anaheim from losing consecutive games for the first time since the end of November, while extending their lead in the Pacific division to 11 points.

After a scoreless first period, Yannick Webber fired Vancouver ahead before the Ducks levelled matters in the third with Francois Beauchemin on target at 6:52.

Frederik Andersen faced only 14 shots, which was the fewest by the Canucks this season.

Meanwhile, in the only other game to be played on Sunday, hosts Florida beat Toronto 6-4 in a thriller.

The goalless first period proved to be no indicator of what was to follow, as the second 20 minutes yielded six goals – four of these to Toronto.

Roman Polak, James van Riemsdyk and Nazem Kadri all scored during a five minute spell towards the end of the second period to boost the Maple Leafs.

However, Dmitry Kulikov and Willie Mitchell began the comeback as the Panthers levelled matters midway through the third period.

Brad Boyes scored a tiebreaking power-play goal with 3:15 remaining before Scottie Upshall confirmed Florida’s win.
