Mo Farah intends to continue with his track career until the 2017 World Championships in front of his home crowd in London.

Farah will carry on racing on the roads but says any concentration on running marathons after 2017 will depend on any physical limitations.

The 32-year-old kicks off his 2015 track season at the Diamond League meeting in Doha on Friday, and he spoke about his future at the pre-event press conference.

"Athletes get a lot of injuries and it is important you improve your times and keep improving each year, staying injury free," he said.

"My aim in my career is to continue collecting medals for my country, which I love doing. But at the same time, sometimes your time is up and you might have to hang your spikes up.

"But I want to carry on until probably the 2017 London World Championships and maybe after that go on to the marathon."

Farah is also keen to see a marathon run at night, believing such a race could be more exciting for spectators if the climate later in the day is proven to be beneficial to athletes.

It has been hinted that the 2019 World Championship marathon, which will be held in the Qatar city, will be run after dark.

"If it is proven that it is better for us in terms of climate and everything else then why not," he said. "We've got to try something. Sometimes I look at athletics and I'm like, 'how do we make it exciting?'

"I think it can be exciting if we work together and build on it. I want to be able to see it like back in the day: Coe and Ovett, broken records and the British public getting behind you again."
