Justin Gatlin crowned Diamond League 100m champion after Brussels victory

Justin Gatlin is the 100m Diamond League champion after taking a closely-fought victory in Brussels at the final Diamond League meeting of the year.

The American ran 9.98 seconds to beat Qatar's Femi Ogunode by less than a hundredth of a second to finish top of the standings on 20 points.

France's Jimmy Vicaut also dipped under 10 seconds and finished third, while Britain's Chijindu Ujah was eighth in a time of 10.19.

The women's 200m saw world champion Dafne Schippers beat Olympic gold medalist Felix Allyson by 0.1s, but the American topped the Diamond Race standings by two points.

Britain's Jodie Williams finished seventh in 23.34.

Tiffany Porter finished fourth in the women's 100m hurdles, 0.18s behind Dawn Harper-Nelson, who led an American 1-2-3 to secure overall victory.

Isobel Pooley was another Brit who finished just outside the top three, her jump of 1.90m good enough only for fourth in the women's high jump, won by Russia's Mariya Kuchina (2.01m).
