Yohan Blake slams 'atrocious' organisation

The Jamaica team doctor says Usain Bolt had to pull up in the 4x100m relay due to cramp in his hamstring.

Bolt's superlative sprinting career ended in disappointment when he collapsed to the track injured while he ran the final leg in the 4x100m final.

The Great Britain quartet ended up beating the USA in a dramatic race while Bolt shrugged aside organisers who brought on a wheelchair for him and was able to limp across the line.

And Dr Kevin Jones said later on in the evening: "It's cramp in his left hamstring but a lot of pain is from the disappointment of losing the race.

"The last three weeks have been hard for him, you know. We hope for the best for him."

Bolt's team mate Yohan Blake criticised the organisation of the sprint relay final, telling Sky Sports News that the treatment of the runners was "atrocious".

Blake said: "I'm very distraught.

"There was a 300m walk to the zone. The race was 10 minutes later.

"It was cold. Usain said to me 'I don't like this', because we keep on warming up, and sitting, and warming up.

"They had to make two presentations before that.

"To see a hero like that, a champion of the sport go down like that, that's a true friend, I didn't like it one bit. They were holding us too long.

"They must know that it is silly and we are not used to these conditions. To be holding us so long, it was atrocious. There was too many presentations. The race was 10 minutes late.

"The sport is going to drop a bit (following the departure of Bolt) but we still have guys for Jamaica to fill that void that he will leave.

"He is going to mentor me, come to training, and make sure everything is all right."
