A Major League Baseball game could be played in London next summer, according to Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London.
Khan, who threw the first pitch in the game between the New York Mets and Minnesota Twins last week, has held discussions with MLB commissioner Rob Manfred.
And he revealed that London could now host a regular-season match in 2017, with West Ham's London Stadium a possible venue.
Khan said: "What we're discussing with Major League Baseball is for them to come here during the summer, which works for us for obvious reasons.
"They are very excited and the commissioner is very keen. They've tried playing Major League Baseball in Australia. They were very receptive.
"The owner of the New York Mets was very receptive. We're in discussions about MLB and we want MLB to come to London."
The MLB will be following the lead of the National Football Association (NFL) and the National Basketball Association (NBA) if any deal is struck to play a game in London.
The NFL has played at least one regular-season game in London since 2007 and has an agreement to play there through to 2020, while the NBA is set to play its seventh game in the capital in January.
