Vattenfall Cyclassics: Alexander Kristoff wins as Mark Cavendish has to settle for fifth

Norway’s Alexander Kristoff sprinted to victory at the one-day Vattenfall Cyclassics in Hamburg as Mark Cavendish had to settle for fifth place.
Kristoff was the first man to launch his sprint for the line and although Cavendish initially went with him, he faded in the final 100m and fell out of the podium places.
The Manxman is still returning to fitness following his crash at the Tour de France.
Italy’s Giacomo Nizzolo surged through to take second place, with Australia’s Simon Gerrans finishing third.
Kristoff never looked in danger of being beaten and now has 13 wins to his name so far this season.
He said afterwards: "With 300m to go I was really in the first position. I started my sprint a little bit slowly and gradually motored up, so I was happy no one could come past me.”
