Tour de Suisse: Cameron Meyer wins stage two as Tony Martin retains overall lead

Breakaway rider Cameron Meyer sprinted to victory on stage two of the Tour de Suisse as Tony Martin retained the overall lead.
Meyer, of Orica-GreenEdge, prevailed in a three-man drag race to the finish line in Sarnen, beating Team Sky’s Philip Deignan into second and BMC’s Larry Warbasse into third.
The trio had formed part of the day’s initial six-man breakaway but dropped three of their fellow escapees on a mountainous route containing four categorised climbs, three of which were higher than 2,000m.
Martin followed 14 seconds later in the peloton to consolidate his six-second lead in the general classification over Tom Dumoulin, with Rohan Dennis remaining 13 seconds back in third.
Britain's Ben Swift finished fifth on the day, while compatriot and Team Sky team-mate Sir Bradley Wiggins crossed the line in 24th place to climb one place overall, to 13th. Deignan’s second place saw him rise from 25th to seventh.
Monday’s third stage is a medium-mountain day, taking the riders 202.9km from Sarnen to Heiden in eastern Switzerland.
