Ryuichi Kiyonari took his first victory at Cadwell Park as he won race one of the fourth round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship.
The Lincolnshire track had been the only circuit on the calendar that the Japanese rider had not triumphed at before.
But the former two-time champion hardly looked threatened on the HM Plant Honda as he led for all but a brief period.
Michael Laverty made a fleeting move into the lead on the penultimate lap but had to settle for second in a race that saw championship contenders Tommy Hill and Stuart Easton fall.
"Many times I have tried but until now I have never won," Kiyonari said.
"For me, this is perfect, and this win is for my son Koma who was born six days ago and my wife Madoka."
Kiyonari did not get the chance at a double victory, however, as a mechanical problem on the warm-up lap scuppered his hopes.
Fellow HM Plant rider Josh Brookes took the win after surging into the lead on lap two at Hall Bends.
Hill chased him down to take second place in a race stopped three laps early when Dan Linfoot crashed heavily.
