Daniel Bryan and Kane: See how the Extreme Rules rivals measure up ahead of Sunday
WWE Champion is on a roll, but Big Red Monster has won more titles
Last Updated: 29/04/14 5:41pm
The Submission Specialist and The Big Red Monster will fight for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Sunday's Extreme Rules pay-per-view, after the former snatched the strap at WrestleMania and the latter rediscovered his devilish side.
Bryan overcame Randy Orton and Batista at the Showcase of the Immortals but his title reign could come to a grinding halt in New Jersey against a man who has made his life a misery in recent weeks.
Kane, now back wearing his mask, administered a trio of Tombstone Piledrivers on Bryan on the April 21 edition of Raw and then scared the King of Beard's new wife, Brie Bella, witless seven days later.
The current animosity between the pair is a far cry from when they dominated as Team Hell No in late 2012 and early 2013, though things never ran altogether smoothly, with Bryan always determined to prove he was not the weak link.
Study the key details below to decide whether The "Yes!" Man or The Devil's Favourite Demon have the most impressive résumé and then watch their title tussle, live on Sky Sports HD Box Office...
DANIEL BRYAN
Nicknames: The Submission Specialist, The "Yes!" Man
Finishing moves: "Yes!" Lock, Running Knee
Height: 5ft 10in
Weight: 210lb
Entrance music: Flight of the Valkyries by Jim Johnston
WWE main roster debut: 2010
Titles held: WWE World Heavyweight Championship (one, current); WWE Championship (2); World Heavyweight Championship (1); WWE Tag Team Championship (1); United States Championship (1)
Other accolades: Money in the Bank winner (2011); Slammy Award for Superstar of the Year (2013), Slammy Award for Beard of the Year (2013); PWI Wrestler of the Year (2013)
Notable rivals: The Miz, CM Punk, Batista, Triple H, Randy Orton, Sheamus, Bray Wyatt, The Shield
Extreme Rules record: 0-2 (lost to Sheamus in 2012; lost to Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns in 2013 whilst teaming with Kane)
2014 so far: Bryan's year began with a defeat to The Eater of Worlds, Bray Wyatt, at the Royal Rumble, before he was refused entry to the Royal Rumble match itself by The Authority, much to the chagrin of the Superstar and his adoring fans. The Washington native also saw his hopes of winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Elimination Chamber ruined by Kane, but had the last laugh at WrestleMania. Bryan beat Triple H to earn a spot in the main-event title encounter and then made Batista submit to the "Yes!" Lock to snare sports entertainment's most sought-after strap from Randy Orton.
KANE
Nicknames: The Big Red Monster, The Devil's Favourite Demon
Finishing moves: Chokeslam, Tombstone Piledriver
Height: 7ft 0in
Weight: 323lb
Entrance music: Veil of Fire by Jim Johnston
WWE main roster debut: 1997
Titles held: WWE Championship (1); World Heavyweight Championship (1); ECW Championship (1); WWE Tag Team Championship (12); Intercontinental Championship (2); Hardcore Championship (1)
Other accolades: Money in the Bank winner (2010)
Notable rivals: Triple H, The Undertaker, Edge, Randy Orton, Matt Hardy, Kurt Angle, Big Show
Extreme Rules record: 1-2 (beat The Corre whilst teaming with Big Show in 2011; lost to Randy Orton in 2012; lost to Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns in 2013 whilst teaming with Bryan)
2014 so far: The Devil's Favourite Demon was The Authority's corporate crony for much of the winter, and not only cost Bryan at Elimination Chamber but also extinguished CM Punk from the Royal Rumble match. Kane then teamed with the New Age Outlaws to tackle The Shield at WrestleMania - but that didn't go too well, with the veterans defeated in less than three minutes. That result, as well as a verbal bashing, from Stephanie McMahon fired up the Big Red Monster, causing him to put his mask on, hit Daniel Bryan with three Tombstone Piledrivers and be granted a match with the "Yes!" chanter at Extreme Rules.
