Mosconi Cup returns to Las Vegas, live on Sky Sports
Thursday 7 December 2017 15:27, UK
Team Europe will defend their Mosconi Cup title as pool's biggest tournament returns to Las Vegas, with Team USA aiming to end the Europeans' long-standing dominance.
Europe recorded a resounding 11-3 victory last year, at Alexandra Palace, in the annual nine-ball competition to claim a historic seventh consecutive triumph.
The 24th edition of the team event will be hosted at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino between December 4-7, live on Sky Sports Action.
Renowned coach Johan Ruijsink will captain the hosts for the three-day extravaganza and will aim to bring about the same success as he achieved for the Europeans - the Dutchman led the European side undefeated through seven Mosconi Cups.
Shane Van Boening will be the star name for the host nation, who will be hoping to repeat the feat of winning in Las Vegas in 2009 when they won 11-7.
Marcus Chamat will lead the visitors, who have become the dominant force on pool's greatest stage, in Nevada with the experienced Ralf Souquet headlining a youthful European team.
Watch the Mosconi Cup live on Sky Sports between December 4-7. Coverage gets underway on Monday from 7pm on Sky Sports Action.
