Baron Corbin and Bull Dempsey’s long-awaited singles match appears closer after the powerhouses brawled on the first NXT of 2015.

Corbin and Dempsey have been involved in a game of one-upmanship in recent weeks, with both competitors determined to outdo the other’s performances in the ring.

Former gridiron player Corbin has generally won the battles, dismantling his opponents in a quicker timeframe than The New York Nightmare, and he impressed again in Orlando on Thursday night.

The Lone Wolf beat CJ Parker with End of Days in just 34 seconds and then challenged a watching Dempsey to a fight before instigating a fracas that NXT officials struggled to quell.

Elsewhere on NXT, there were two scintillating tag tussles, in which NXT Tag Team Champions, The Lucha Dragons, and the high-octane tandem of Finn Balor and Hideo Itami prevailed.

The Lucha Dragons aka Sin Cara and Kalisto downed Jason Jordan and Tye Dillinger before they were blindsided by The Vaudevillians and told they would soon lose their belts.

Balor and Itami, meanwhile, mirrored their win over The Ascension at Takeover: R Evolution, with Japanese sensation Itami’s devastating head kick on Viktor proving the decisive blow.
