On Soccer AM...
Friday 13 May 2011 14:36, UK
Nicky Summerbee, Paddy McGuinness and James DeGale will all be on this week's show!
The season may be coming to an end, but Soccer AM will be going out with a bang with just three shows left this season. First down the tunnel this week will be Manchester City legend Nicky Summerbee! The former midfielder will be taking his place on the orange sofas ahead of the FA Cup Final, where his ex-employers hope to end a 35-year wait for silverware. The Summerbee name is of course synonymous with City, with the 39-year-old's farther, Mike Summerbee, playing in the hugely successful teams of the late '60s and early '70s. And the football dynasty doesn't stop there! Nicky's grandfather, George Summerbee, and great uncle, Gordon Summerbee, were also professional footballers. As well as turning out over 130 times for the Eastlands club, Nicky is as passionate a City fan as you're likely to find, and he will be reflecting on a wonderful season for Roberto Mancini's men and looking ahead to next season.Stand-up
Taking a seat next to him on the orange sofa will be one of the funniest men in the country, Paddy McGuinness!
The stand-up comedian and actor first came to our attention in Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights. The success of the show made both Kay and McGuinness household names and spawned the equally successful spin-off series; Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere.
As well as acting and stand-up, the Bolton fan can regularly be seen presenting various shows and is currently the host of dating program, Take Me Out.
As ever, Helen and Max will be asking all the questions and they will be finding out all there is to know about his upcoming stand-up tour and more!
Gold
Completing this week's line-up will be Olympic gold medallist, James DeGale!
It's over two years since the classy super-middleweight boxer made his professional debut in Birmingham, and after a lukewarm reception from the British boxing public he is beginning to win them over.
Last May he claimed his first title, the vacant WBA International super middleweight belt, thanks to a fifth-round stoppage of Sam Horton, before defeating Carl Dilks in September 2010.
His best performance was undoubtedly his last, however, as the 25-year-old outclassed Paul Smith in his own Liverpool backyard over nine slick rounds to claim the British super middleweight title.
Next up for DeGale is a clash with arch rival George Groves in a showdown that will decide who calls themselves British and Commonwealth champion.
The pair will go toe-to-toe at the O2 Arena on May 21st in the Sky Box Office HD fight, and the QPR fan will be revealing how his training is going and no doubt telling us what round he plans to knock Groves out in!
So that wraps up this week's guests, but wait... there's more!
Sandwiched in between all this week's chats will be all your favourites, including Showboat, Unbelievable Tekkers, Kenneth the Groundsman, News with Pat, and a very special Skill Skool from France!
Plus, Dev heads to Nottingham Forest for the Best Seat in the House, Tubes meets Wladimir Klitschko and Kammy goes up against Alistair McGowan in a Kammy Do It Countdown special!
So be sure to tune in to Soccer AM, Saturday, 10am, on Sky Sports 2 & Sky 1!
