Rovers fan Badwan behind Steve Kean
Faris Badwan took a seat on the
Soccer AM sofas on Saturday to talk fantasy football, Blackburn Rovers and giving it all up to become a professional footballer!
The Horrors frontman admitted it's been a difficult season watching his beloved Rovers struggle in the Premier League, but says he's still behind manager, Steve Kean.
Kean has come under fire from certain sections of the Ewood Park faithful, but Faris believes there is still a unity within the squad.
"He's sort of turned it around now," he told
Soccer AM.
"I think often when a team isn't doing well, the team isn't behind the manager, but they do seem genuinely united."
"And I think there's a chance there's going to be three worse teams than ours this season."
Award
The Horrors have continued to enhance their reputation since forming in 2005, with their latest album, 'Skying' reaching number five in the charts.
It earned them the Best Album award at the 2012 NME Awards, but Badwan admitted he'd happily give up his rock 'n' roll lifestyle to take to the Ewood Park pitch every week.
"If I had enough talent I'd give it all up," he said. "I would happily play football all day.
"I'm definitely not professional level, but I do play for a six-a-side team called Team Ice Cream and they won the league last season.
"We've just started a league and it's called Paradise Park, it's a Top Corner league and it's very good."
Fantasy
With no Premier League career on the horizon, Badwan has instead had to make do with tinkering with his fantasy football team on a weekly basis.
The 25-year-old has set-up a league with fans of The Horrors, but admitted, like Blackburn, he hasn't had the best of seasons.
He said: "It's been going about five years now with people on the forums. I delete anybody that's above me in the league because I'm the admin as well!
"I've been first or second in the last few years, but this year's there's been a swell of interest.
"The winner gets honour and pride, but also a lock of one of the other band mates' hair, which I have to take without them knowing!"
